Very often a downloaded video can't be played due to the reason that the system misses some codecs.
The easiest way to solve this problem is Gspot, a free application which detects hundreds of formats and codecs.
Just drag a video file to a Gspot window and the application will analyze it.
In case the program finds the codec that is absent from your system, it will search this codec in the Internet and give you a link to download. All that remains to do is to install it.
We also recommend you AVS Video Converter which has a great number of built-in codecs.
